Barbara Madison Hauck (Cat) is pleased to be joining The Collaborative Theatre for the first time in Alice in Wonderland. Most recently, she played Fluellen in Cohesion's rendition of Henry V. Before that, you may have seen her as Lulu in the premier production of Exit Pluto at The Strand. Other local credits include the other Boleyn girl in Chesapeake Shakespeare Company's Anne of the Thousand Days, W in Cock, Alais in Lion in Winter, Adriana in Comedy of Errors, Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet and Queen Margaret in Richard III, among many others. Barbara has studied at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin and holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She is very grateful for the opportunity to lend her skills to this talented group of artists. Cheers!
Quick 3 with Barbara:
1) Which is your favorite character to portray and why?
The Cheshire Cat, of course! It was my favorite character as a child -- a little fun, a little creepy. Plus, it's a cat and cats rule.
2) What is your favorite scene or line from the play and why?
"May I make one thing perfectly clear... when I use a word it means precisely what I choose it to mean. Nothing more and nothing less." One of the things I love about Lewis Carroll (and Shakespeare Norton Juster and Lemony Snicket) is the wordplay. It's absolutely delicious.
3) What is the most challenging portion of this play?
It's not like any version of Alice in Wonderland I'm familiar with. But rather approaching it like a challenge, I'm content to play with my fellow collaborators and see what we can make of it!
